Demographics and what now?
As things stand today, around seven million employees will retire in Germany in the next 15 years. It is the baby boomer generation that is retiring. At the same time, more and more young people want to work less or differently, as they can afford to to set different priorities for their lives. This trend will be particularly noticeable in the skilled trades, as there are nowhere near number of young people waiting in the wings.

On the other hand, there are technological developments. Artificial intelligence and robot technology are rapidly changing technical possibilities and fantasies. Soon, tireless, ever-ready, digital-based multilingual assistants will take over will soon be providing services such as directory assistance, advice and even teaching at schools and universities. Service robots will increasingly be found in the catering and care sectors and, as before, in manufacturing. Virtually everyone now knows how quickly technical progress develops or can develop. And 15 years offers plenty of time for technical developments - even for surprises such as AI. even for surprises like AI. With the release of Chat-GPT 3.5 in November 2022 AI entered the world, seemingly out of nowhere, to change it fundamentally and permanently.

At present and in the foreseeable future, however, digital miracles will not be available or expected in many areas will be available or expected to be available for everyone and everything on the spare shelf. So what can we do? There are no easy answers and no one can really see that far into the future and predict the consequences of everything beyond doubt.

However, the increasing shortage of skilled workers will certainly continue to increase in the health and social professions, in the skilled trades and in the specialized IT professions. As a result, services will become more expensive and in some cases will no longer be available available at any time and any place. At the same time, technological developments and fundamental transformations, such as in energy generation and mobility, will reshape the world. And there is another important factor in all of this: the increasing shortage of raw materials. The technological lead that Europe once had will no longer exist. So there are too many factors that make it virtually impossible to reliably predict economic developments. as good as impossible. Only one thing is absolutely certain: demographic trends will not suddenly change completely.

Partial Retirement - always just leisure time is boring
Perhaps the ceiling is falling on some people's heads or the never-ending free time is increasingly accompanied by weariness or the idea of doing something again with vigor and joy is gaining weight. Flexible partial retirement is certainly the magic word here, to find the right balance between leisure and employment, freedom and commitment for everyone involved. And just like in an economic fairy tale, the company is suddenly able to things are suddenly accomplished again in the company and finally, as was actually intended, a few extra shiny coins roll into the company's account.

Whatever the reasons may be - they are important for you and also the feeling that you have made the right decision. All of this possibly with the ambition and the idea, to create something useful for yourself and society. And this should be mentioned at this point: art knows no age and nor does the right decision, usefulness and pleasure in one's own work.

There are many motives that motivate people to become or remain active again: To be needed, to find recognition, to earn something extra, to restructure themselves and to enjoy doing and creating something meaningful. Older, experienced people in particular can pass on some of their professional experience and knowledge to younger people. and knowledge to younger people and the younger ones can perhaps infect the older ones with their young dynamism. a little with their young dynamism.

Find new Employees
Gone are the days when companies could screen their applicants. Are applicants now sifting? We take a look at this question from a different angle.

It is probably true that there are generally more vacancies than applicants. However, there are also jobs that were previously unattractive for jobseekers and could not be filled so easily. In addition, many things, especially in the technical field, are becoming increasingly complicated and specialized. There is little that can be done about these facts - things will remain as they are. A simple solution could be: Companies are turning. Shoo, shoo - solutions can be so beautifully simple! Now let's see if there really is something to it.

What motivates people? Why do they feel addressed? Let's not look at the job advertisements for top manager or top specialist positions of the first international league, but those of the district and national league, i.e. the absolute majority of the total weight. And let's also leave pay out of the equation. Those who are only concerned with earning as much as possible, there's not much imagination and fuss needed. But the question must certainly be asked here, how long will this prospector stay?

As a rule, the following points will certainly be important when applying. In over 50 percent of cases, the location criterion is a key pre-filter.

  • Is the new position close to my current place of residence or easily accessible from there or in my preferred location/region?
  • If a move becomes necessary: Will I receive support in finding accommodation? For many people, moving to expensive cities without the prospect of an affordable apartment of their own is certainly an absolute knock-out criterion. However, this situation improves the position of companies that are located in the surrounding areas of such cities and can therefore score points.
  • For companies in scenic surroundings, it certainly makes sense to wave it around.
Then there are the personal interests, strengths and passions, which are also partly shaped by your own family situation - single, married, children. The following points are certainly important in this context:
  • Certainly important for families: family-friendliness of the company and the location.
  • The desire for flexible working hours and home working is increasing.
  • The desire to develop professionally and contribute your skills can be important criteria.
  • There are also passions and preferences for industries and topics - for example: Environment, AI and fashion.
  • Then the opportunity to take on responsibility and organize or manage areas independently.
  • Some are very interested in the international dimension of their work.
  • And some also like to travel in a professional context.
Companies can also draw attention to themselves with the following points:
  • Collegial working environment and a positive corporate culture.
  • The form of address in the job advertisement: you or you. However, this should be authentic to your own corporate culture.
  • Family business and manageability or degree of recognition and size of the company.
  • Innovative products and services or forward-looking projects.
  • Startup and opportunities.
These are all points that, when used correctly and together should result in an appealing picture that also corresponds to reality.

When it comes to the requirements in job advertisements, it is certainly a good idea to check whether the requirements and expectations are possibly too high or even too high to be off-putting. If this is the intention, then it is okay, but otherwise it is counter-productive.

How it is formulated is also important. Cold and formal or with a certain friendly tone and inviting openness - that may make all the difference. Some hints can certainly change entire CVs, for example: Career changers welcome!

The search for personnel can be very time-consuming and advertising can be more expensive than planned. Fortunately, we can offer you an additional advertisement angel, which is inexpensive and can be set up quickly. If you wish, we can also take a look at your newly placed advertisement and give you feedback. In this way, we may all learn something new together.

Older and experienced Employees are sought after
In contrast to corporations, the employees of small companies are the real capital of the company. Qualified employees are therefore an important prerequisite for maintaining performance and further development. and further development. Their knowledge and skills create the basis for this.

From this perspective, it is a blessing for the economy in Germany, that more than 1.3 million agile pensioners with experience and reliability are still working. However, the dormant potential of knowledge and skills is much greater. It's not just pensioners, but also people who retire long before they reach retirement age, retirement age for whatever reason. The question is whether there are ways to address this potential, to arouse their interest in reactivating themselves with conviction and fresh energy? If this interest can be awakened, the will to start something new will be driven by this inner interest and not by a must. interest and not a must. This makes all the difference in such cases and may also save you a lot of time in job interviews.

Whatever the circumstances and at whatever time, older people bring life and work experience with them. And that is a value in itself, regardless of whether it is for permanent, part-time jobs or temporary projects. Temporary projects in particular are certainly very well suited per se for the involvement of such experienced employees. More and more companies are now appreciating this.

Like young people, older people have the potential and even the experience to save the world! Before that, however, they may save your company from the predicament of staff shortages as an exercise and as an important momentum in the big picture your company from the unfortunate situation of staff shortages.

Flexible working, Remote Jobs and Working from Home
The world of work is changing - in many respects and with increasing dynamism.

Digitalization has made many things possible that seemed unthinkable just a few years ago. In particular, remote jobs and working from home have received crucial attention and implementation during the coronavirus pandemic. In the world of work, this applies in particular to office, acquisition, teaching and a whole range of other activities. In these contexts, many tasks can be carried out from home in home-working mode or from wherever - often even more effectively than directly on site. It is these modern working models of home offices, remote (teleworking) and hybrid workplaces, that are becoming increasingly popular with job seekers. There are many reasons for this:

  • People who are interested in working from home or remotely.
  • Freelancers who can best develop their projects for various clients in their own environment.
  • Save or reduce the time spent traveling to and from work.
  • Parents who want to be more flexible for their children and families.
  • Flexible remote working for a small second job from home.
  • Ideal for people in rural areas.
  • Ideal for people with physical or health problems.
  • Ideal for retirees who want to earn some extra money.

Remote working models also offer a number of advantages for employers:
  • Fewer office workstations are required. This reduces the costs for the office.
  • Employee satisfaction and motivation increase.
  • Stronger employee loyalty to the company.
  • Fewer sick days and absences.
  • Increased productivity.
  • Specialists can work for the company worldwide.
  • Employees who are particularly interested in these flexible working models can be recruited.
  • International projects and international cooperation are easier to implement.
  • Improved image as a modern and employee-friendly company.

However, local flexibility for employees requires them to work independently and on their own responsibility. These prerequisites, the reduced control options and the possible isolation of employees must be kept in mind, especially in the case of 100% remote workplaces.

For this and other reasons, hybrid working models are generally the most common. Here, the advantages of working in the office are flexibly combined with those of remote working. In this way, the advantages of conventional and modern working models can be individually designed and optimized. So we can look to the future with excitement, with the prospect of what new possibilities digitalization and robot technology will open up for everyone will beam onto desks at home and into companies.
